Video production in Wigan
Aposs is a video production company in Wigan. We have worked from this town for over 20 years, making films for organisations that need to be understood — not just seen.
What we make
Every film starts with a question: what needs to change once someone has watched it? The format follows from the answer, never the other way round.
- Brand and campaign films — work that carries the character of an organisation rather than a list of its services.
- Social media video — short, emotionally driven pieces built to travel and to be watched without sound.
- Case study and testimonial films — real people describing real outcomes, filmed so they sound like themselves.
- Event and documentary coverage — a record of what actually happened, cut so it holds attention.
- Recruitment and internal communication — films that help people understand a place before they join it.
Who we work with
The mix is wider than people tend to expect. Local authorities and public sector bodies at one end, independent brands and owner-run businesses at the other, with colleges, international manufacturers and national brands in between.
What they share is not a sector. It is a reason for calling: a message that genuinely matters to them, and a suspicion that a plain, functional video will not be enough to make anyone feel it.
- Councils and public sector — campaign work that has to speak to a whole borough rather than a target demographic.
- Manufacturers and makers — we have filmed on foundry floors, in glassworks and on production lines around Wigan, where the process is the story. See our critical-power case study for Anord Mardix, made across six manufacturing sites.
- Independent brands — launch and brand films for businesses where the owner is the personality.
- Education and training — films that show a place honestly to the people deciding whether to join it.
- National brands and large organisations — films that have to carry one story across a whole company, not just one site.
Why a Wigan production company is worth choosing
Local knowledge is not a sentimental argument. It is practical. We know the venues, the parking, the light at different times of day, and who to ask for permission. A crew that already understands the town spends its time filming rather than finding its way around.
It also means we can meet you properly. Most projects are better for a conversation in a room than a call, and being ten minutes away makes that easy.
That covers the whole borough rather than just the town centre — Leigh, Standish, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Hindley, Orrell and the villages around them — and the wider North West when a project takes us further.

How we work
Our films are built around emotion as strategy, because how people feel determines what they think, say and do next. In practice that comes down to four things.
- Clarity — an outside perspective that cuts through the complexity and finds what actually needs saying.
- Connection — the moment a story stops feeling distant and starts feeling personal.
- Confidence — work an organisation genuinely believes in, which is what makes people share it.
- Change — the shift in perception or behaviour that the film existed to create.
You do not need a script or a finished brief to start. Some clients arrive with one; others arrive with a feeling they cannot quite name yet. Shaping that into something that moves people is the job, not a prerequisite for hiring us.
What a film costs
There is no price list, because there is no standard film. What moves the number is straightforward enough though, and worth understanding before you ask anyone for a quote.
- Shoot days — usually the biggest single factor. One day in one location costs very differently to four days spread across a borough.
- Crew size — a single-camera interview setup is a different proposition to a director, second camera, sound and lighting.
- Locations and access — permissions, parking, closures, and whether we can film while a place is still working.
- What happens in the edit — grading, motion graphics, animation, subtitles, original music or licensed tracks.
- How many versions you need — one film, or a main cut plus a set of social edits in different ratios.
Tell us the budget you have rather than asking us to guess at it. If it will not stretch to what you have described, we would rather say so at the start than discover it halfway through.
Questions we get asked
The things people usually want to know before they commission a film, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.
01 Do you only work in Wigan?
We are based in Wigan and a good deal of our work happens in the borough, but we are not limited to it. Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Bolton and the rest of the North West are all comfortably within reach for a day’s filming, and we travel further when a project needs it.
02 How quickly can you turn a film around?
It depends on shoot days and sign-off far more than it depends on editing. A single interview-led film with one round of amends moves quickly. A campaign with several shoot days and a committee to approve it takes longer. We agree the date you need it by at the start and work backwards from there.
03 Do we need a script or a brief before we get in touch?
No. Some clients arrive with a fully formed brief, others with a feeling they cannot quite name yet. Either is a fine place to start — shaping that into something that moves people is the job, not a prerequisite for hiring us.
04 Who actually turns up on the day?
We work as a studio rather than a fixed in-house crew, building the right team around each brief — the right director, the right editor, the right eye for that particular job. You get one point of contact throughout; the people behind it change to fit the work.
05 Can you work alongside our own marketing team?
Yes, and often that is exactly the setup. We are used to working to brand guidelines, sign-off chains and a wider campaign timetable. You keep control of the message; we bring the outside perspective that makes it land.
06 What do we need to have ready before filming?
Less than people expect. A clear idea of who the film is for and what you want them to do afterwards, access to the locations and people we have agreed, and someone on the day who is able to make decisions. We handle the rest.
Planning a film in Wigan?
Tell us what it needs to do, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people to do it.
